cities are global coherence made of the juxtaposition and combinations of urban systems expressing respective periods, problems, programs, techniques and culture, though always connected with the context.
In Lijiang old town, we do not observe sequences but rather the evolution of a pattern made by repetitive rules successively applied by individual builders.
the challenge to build near the old town is to realize an extension which would neither be a pastiche nor a rupture which would only raise the city-museum aspect of the historic part.
.
the project proposes a flexible mikado pattern on a 30m grid composed of :
-
node buildings on the grid intersection (vertical circulation and technics).
-
bridges building sat between the node building on the second floor.
- flexible implantation buildings sat under the bridges for the design of the urban spaces and the combination with other building allowing to build in the courtyard according the need of deep surfaces.
